Coaching

Stephen Greene –  Head Coach

Stephen is a full time professional Triathlon Coach and has been involved in Triathlon for about 15 years originally coming from a sporting background having competed at a regional level in tennis, rugby and cycling. Stephen has raced all distances from sprint to Ironman and regularly  competes in the Great Britain Age Group squad.

Stephen coaches at a number of clubs in the region, manages/ coaches the East Midlands Development Squad, sits on the Triathlon England Regional Committee, is a consultant for British Triathlon and owns and operates Peak Performance Junior Triathlon Club in Ashbourne. Stephen is a Level 3 Personal Trainer and Triathlon Coach and works with both groups and individuals including both complete beginners through to those wanting to compete at the highest level.

Chris Gunn –  Coach

After making a conscious ‘Lifestyle’ change at the start of 2020, and pursuing a passion for long-distance endurance sports, Chris became an IRONMAN U Certified Coach in October 2020, a British Triathlon (BTL) Level 1 Triathlon Coach in 2022 and a Swim England Level 1 Swim Teacher in March 2025.

Chris enjoys coaching numerous ‘single sport’ and ‘multi-sport’ Athletes in the UK, Central Europe, and across the Middle East  delivering an Athlete Centric’ approach putting the Athlete front and centre at all times.

​

Notable Coaching achievements include multiple athlete qualifications for:-

Great Britain Age Group Squad
Ironman 70.3 World Championships 
Ironman 140.6 World Championship (KONA)
Marathon Des Ables (MDS) (Age Group Podium & Top 10 overall  Finish)

 

Chris has over 25 years’ experience of competing in endurance sports.

 

Chris has raced multiple road Marathons (London, Dubai) and is a 10 times finisher of the Original Mountain Marathon, ‘The OMM’, (formerly known as the KIMM).

 

Chris ‘found’ Triathlon in 2014 and has since raced distances spanning ‘Super-Sprint’ to ‘Full Ironman’.

 

With multiple ‘Age-Group’ podium finishes, over Sprint and Olympic Distances together with  several IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships qualification slots,  Chris brings  a “Compete not Complete” mindset. 

​

With a passion to get off road and push boundaries, Chris  has since completed three of the toughest Extreme Triathlons from the XTRI World Series, securing the coveted BLACK Finisher T-Shirt on each occasion. 

​
